POLICE investigating the recent serious racial disorder in Burnley have released mugshots of 32 people they want to trace.
The pictures of Asian and white men and youths were taken mainly from security and CCTV cameras in and around the town centre.
Others were picked up by the police helicopter and evidence gatherers using hand-held videos during the troubles in June.
A dedicated team officers have been studying hours of video footage taken on the night of June 24. More than 100 tapes have been viewed and many alleged offenders already identified.
Det Supt Paul Buschini said: "We would appeal to anyone who recognises the people in these photographs to contact the police as soon as possible. Anyone who recognises themselves should also come forward now. The residents of Burnley have a vital role to play in this major investigation and I very much hope they will be calling us with information."
A special telephone number has been issued for anyone with information to ring on 01282 472222. They can call in confidence and do not have to give their name.
Fifty-five people were arrested during the disturbances and a further 47 since then.
Many have been charged with offences including serious assault, violent disorder, possession of offensive weapons, criminal damage and looting burglary offences .
Up to 10 more known people are actively being sought by the 40-strong inquiry team.
