STAFF at Pendle Leisure Centre are looking for sponsors for a "Run for Sarah" event.
Led by gym instructor Tommy Gildert, they are planning to run the near 50 miles from Blackpool to Colne to raise money for a campaign to buy a sports limb for 13-year-old Sarah Heyworth, who sadly lost a leg due to cancer.
Up to 20 volunteers, including Sarah's dad, Colne newsagent Steven Heyworth, are expected to join Tommy in the relay run on Sunday, October 14.
Anyone willing to help with sponsorship is asked to contact Tommy or duty officer Quammer Iqbal at the Leisure Centre on 01282 661166.
Mr Heyworth is rasing money for the sports limb for his daughter and for the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital where she has been treated.
Sarah, who now lives in Balmoral Road, Chorley, with her mum, was told she had cancer of the leg in July, 1999, and earlier this year had a relapse and was told she would have to have her leg amputated.
She is a pupil at Parklands High School, Chorley.
