SADDLE up and trot along to see the Centre Section of the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery at Penny Farm, Peel.
The open day on September 23 at the International League for the Protection of Horses Centre forms part of the troop's annual summer camp in Blackpool and gives members of the public the chance to get up close and meet the soldiers and their horses, observe riding displays and enjoy an outdoor barbecue.
In turn the gunners enjoy the chance to get away from the rigours of ceremonial duties in London.
Captain Edward Botterill said: "Our annual visit to Blackpool is a real break for the soldiers and their mounts. They can relax, enjoying rides round the streets of Blackpool and even swimming in the sea.
"The open day also offers them the chance to share their experiences with members of the general public and explain a little more about their role in the Army.
"There are so may people interested in horses nowadays -- for anyone wanting to work with horses while undertaking a rewarding and challenging career, the King's Troop is the ideal choice."
The event starts off at 11am on Sunday and also offers information on career opportunities within the Army.
