A 22-YEAR-OLD Accrington man has appeared in court charged with handling a stolen £50,000 Mercedes goods vehicle.
Elias Smith, of Whinny Hill caravan site, was remanded to police cells until Monday so that officers from the major crime unit can carry out further inquiries.
The court heard that the vehicle was stolen from a yard in Runcorn on Wednesday night. The cab of the vehicle was recovered from the back of a pickup in Whitebirk Road at 9.10am on Thursday and other parts of the vehicle were found at remote Windy Harbour Farm off the Grane Road near Haslingden.
Prosecutor John Woods said the vehicle was in the process of being cut up.
