TALKING TACTICS

Clarets boss Stan Ternent had the luxury of naming an unchanged side at Carrow Road, sticking with the 4-4-2 that saw off Birmingham. His opposite number Nigel Worthington started with the same formation. Injury to Alan Moore meant a change after the break and Paul Weller's position behind the front two led to Worthington switching to 4-5-1 with the introduction of Neil Emblem. By the end Ternent was flinging everyone forward.

SOCCER HERO

GORDON Armstrong may have been outpaced on a couple of occasions and he struggled to keep Iwan Roberts quiet but he scored one, had another cleared off the line and almost stopped Norwich's second.

THE VILLAIN

CLUB skipper Neil Emblen has been injured most of the season and when he came off the bench to clear Armstrong's header off the line, Clarets fans were wishing he was still on the treatment table.

SKILL SPOT

ALAN Moore was the star of the first half before hobbling off and one mazy dribble, leaving four men in his wake, illustrated why Ternent is so happy to have persuaded him to sign a three-year deal.

TIME FOR ACTION

04 Nik Michopoulos watches open mouthed as Gary Holt's 20 yard drive flies into the net off the underside of the bar.

05 An immediate chance falls to Glen Little but he miskicks after good work by Alan Moore.

15 Gareth Taylor challenges Canaries keeper Robert Green and he drops the ball at Alan Moore's feet. He tees up Taylor but his weak shot is cleared by Darren Kenton.

18 Another great dribble by Alan Moore ends with his shot being blocked.

22 Little is fouled on the edge of the area, just outside the box says Paul Alcock. Steve Davis hits the wall.

36 Ball breaks to Little in the area and he shoots wide with his left foot with the goal gaping.

49 Another great chance for Little after Taylor nods down a cross from Davis but this time he ripples the side netting.

55 Michopolous drops McVeigh's cross under pressure from Roberts, Armstrong clears Russell's shot off the line but Roberts bundles the ball home.

58 Little's corner is flicked on at the near post and Armstrong volleys home from five yards out.

70 Roberts and Libbra break through but are denied by some desperate defending.

74 Armstrong looks certain to level with a header from another Little corner but Emblem clears off the line with his first touch after replacing Libbra.

90 A couple of great chances for the home side is stoppage time as Burnley pile forward in search of an equaliser.

MATCH VERDICT

IT'S impossible to take your eyes of the pitch for one moment when you are watching the Clarets at the moment. For the third successive game reporters covering the opposition were claiming it was the best game they had seen this season and no fan will have complained about not getting value for money. Burnley were not at their best but the match was still thrilling.
