NELSON-BASED NEL Construction has won a prestige design and build contract in the South East valued at £1.2 million.
The company is building a state-of-the-art automated storage and distribution facility at Pegasus Park in Croydon on land that was part of the first London airport.
Work on the development for Central and Provincial Properties Limited began last month is a fast-track completion date has been set for early December
NEL managing director Frank Lewer believes the company won the job because of its professional commitment to achieving a high-quality product and it 'can do' attitude.
"It is a major acvhievement to win a contract such as this one, especially in the South," he said. "We have a team of experts working on this project who can deliver the high level of service that is expected."
The new development comprises a high-bay warehouse of 25,550 square feet, together with ground and first floor offices, external marshalling areas and parking.
The building has been let to a specialist firm of international movers and distributors to replace a smaller, older facility which they had outgrown.
NEL was established in 1984 and has grown to become one of Lancashire's leading construction companies, undertaking both traditional and design and build contracts throughout the UK.
