A TEENAGER was so touched by the plight of Third World children she has produced a CD of traditional songs and hopes to sell them to raise funds.
Gillian Birch has just returned from a six-month stay in Kenya, where she helped local youngsters further their education and while there, in the district of Gilgil, Gillian, 19, helped build a library and raised funds to buy more than 400 new books.
Although back home in Brothers Street, in the Cherry Tree area of Blackburn, the former St Wilfrid's pupil has not forgotten the hardships faced by the children and has vowed to help them.
While in Gilgil Gillian, who was on a Gap year project with Vrai Alpiniste Expeditions (VAE), recorded the children singing traditional songs.
Since being back home she has whittled them down to the best 30 and has produced a CD with an accompanying booklet featuring photographs of the children and a brief description of the songs.
She will sell them for £10 with £8 going straight to the children.
