RAMSBOTTOM celebrated their first NWCL Division One win since the opening day of the season much to the relief of manager Mike Kelly.
After five league encounters without a win, Ramsbottom made a storming start with Russell Brierley opening the scoring in the first minute, David Yorke-Robinson's right wing cross being swept home.
Brierley and Mike Langhorn both went close to adding a second goal.
Maine Road then played some good possession football and for 20 minutes looked the better side. As the first half ended the Rams regained the initiative and Mark Thomas's header struck a post with keeper Morrey beaten.
Four minutes into the second period Maine Road drew level when Mark Mitchell's shot cum cross looped into the top corner of the Ramsbottom net. A minute later Yorke-Robinson put the Rams back in the lead with a fine solo run and excellent finish from the edge of the box.
On 75 minutes Danny Goodall added a third Ramsbottom goal and shortly afterwards Maine Road were reduced to ten men when Paul Varden was sent off.
The Manchester side's problems increased when Yorke-Robinson made it 4-1 with his second on 82 minutes.
In the final minute Rams sub Brad Franks was sent off after he brought down Jock Russell on the edge of the area. RESULT: RAMSBOTTOM UTD...4 MAINE ROAD...1
