THE oldest of the old boys of one of Blackburn's best-known secondary schools today issued a last-minute call for classmates of long ago to join them in their reunion marking the 60th anniversary of its opening.
More than 30 ex-pupils who were in the first intake of the former St Peter's Boys' Secondary Modern in Byrom Street are gathering at 6.15pm tomorrow at St Wilfrid's High School, which was formed in 1966 with the merger of St Peter's and nearby St Hilda's Girls' School.
"There were 140 of us, now in our 72nd year, in the original intake at St Peter's in 1940 and we are looking for as many as possible to join the reunion," says organiser Jack Holden.
