YOUR article about all the roadworks currently taking place in Blackburn (LET, September 17) gave a list of all the works, but it would have been more useful to give details about the public transport facilities which are available.
Fewer road-users would mean less traffic and, hence, fewer delays. According to data readily available from Blackburn Town Hall, 40 per cent of shoppers arrive by means other than cars.
If this many people manage to travel around the area without cars, then, surely, others can too.
Cars cause congestion and pollution, so public transport should be promoted towards achieving a sustainable future. Your newspaper could help to do this.
