BURNLEY Council has been asked to prepare a submission to the riots Task Force on the impact of the disturbances.
The council set up the Task Force to look into causes of the racial disturbances in June and the way forward.
But it will not comment on the causes of the disturbances in its submission. Chief executive Dr Gillian Taylor, said the council's key role had been in helping to set up the Task Force, which was best placed to determine why the disturbances took place in Burnley when they did.
Executive members will discuss the situation at a meeting tonight, with a draft report to go to the ratification committee on October 2.
It will also be circulated to group leaders, who will be asked to comment either separately or jointly by that date.
Lord Clarke, independent chairman of the Task Force, has said he hopes the consultation period will be completed by the end of October with his report circulated in mid-November.
Various sub groups have been set by the Task Force, including statutory agencies and other organisations, chaired by police superintendant Alf Hitchcock.
The sub group members report on the impact of the disturbances, likely effects on each organisation in the medium to long term, give the organisation's view on the causes and put forward views on what plans can be put in place to address those causes.
Each of the organisations have been asked to return its submission by October 5 so that a full report can go to the Task force on October 10.
Council service managers have been asked to submit reports on the impact of the disturbances.
