A 23-year-old Nelson man was warned that he may face prison after pleading guilty to his fifth offence of driving while disqualified.
Kevin Hankey, of Iona Street, pleaded guilty at Blackburn magistrates to driving while disqualified in Albion Street, Clitheroe, and driving without insurance.
He was remanded on bail until October 17 for the preparation of pre sentence reports with a warning that all options, including custody, would be open to the sentencing bench.
David Leach, defending, said Hankey had gone to Clitheroe with a friend to collect a gas cooker.
They parked at the rear of a shop but when they went in the owner said they would be better parking at the front to avoid carrying the cooker down steps.
"Without thinking my client went down the stairs and drove from the back to the front of the shop and it was while doing that he was stopped," said Mr Leach.
