CLITHEROE'S Concert Society kicks off its 50th season next month with a performance from young baritone Damien Thantrey.
Damien, who has made quite an impression in opera circles recently, will perform songs in English, French and German for the society on Wednesday October 3.
He has sung oratorio at various cathedrals and the Royal Albert Hall, with leading conductors Sir David Willcocks and Vernon Handley.
He will perform with Opera North next year.
His recital will be supported by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust.
A society spokesperson said: "To celebrate our 50th season we are continuing to try and bring the highest calibre of artists to perform live chamber music in the town.
"This season we have invited a mixture of new artists and ones we have enjoyed before."
The season continues on November 7 with Trilogy, a trio of Northern musicians - Nicola Hunter, flute; Barbara Grunthal, cello; and Eleanor Hudson, harp - who play as soloists with the BBC and Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestras, and the Northern Chamber Orchestra.
They will perform works by Elgar, Bach, Debussy and Saint-Saens.
Further recitals include Ensemble Cymru from Bangor University, who will perform works by Haydn, Bach and Gershwin on December 12.
And on January 16, 2002, Clitheroe-born Clare McFarlane, will lead her string quartet. Violist Philip Dukes returns on February 20, with old friend of the society Martin Roscoe on March 20 2002.
All performances begin at 7.30pm at The Lecture Theatre, Clitheroe Royal Grammar School, Sixth Form Centre, York Street, Clitheroe.
Wheelchair access and free parking is available.
