AGE Concern is trying to eradicate "lethal" electric blankets so the elderly can sleep safely in their beds.
Blankets can be tested for free on October 15 at Darwen Community Centre, Knott Street, Darwen, and then the day after at Blackburn Town Hall.
Both sessions last from 9.30am till 4.30pm.
Vicky Shepherd, Age Concern's information services manager, said: "Research has shown that 70 per cent of electric blankets fail safety tests and 25 per cent are potentially lethal.
"We want people to have their blankets tested to ensure they can sleep safely in their beds."
The event has been organised in conjunction with Blackburn with Darwen Council's Trading Standards department and Lancashire Fire Service.
To book an appointment for a test call 01254 266620 or 01254 773440, or pop into the Age Concern office on King Street, Blackburn, or Union Street, Darwen.
