CHEEKY Bury FC mascot Robbie the Bobby has been given the all-clear to entertain the fans at tonight's clash against Oldham -- despite causing a rumpus at the weekend by baring his backside to rival fans.
Management at Gigg Lane held an inquiry after the 7ft tall cuddly cop -- played by plumber Jonathan Pollard -- was marched from the pitch on Saturday after mooning to 2,000 visiting Stoke City supporters.
Security chiefs at the ground stepped in and removed Jonathan fearing his bare-faced antics could incite trouble.
Jonathan, aged 26, who regularly takes on the guise of Robbie, based on Bury lad Sir Robert Peel founder of the modern police force, was also warned by the real life police after his pitchside antics.
Following the inquiry by Shakers' bosses it has been decided that Jonathan will continue to play Robbie the Bobby and will be pitchside this evening.
But the mascot himself remained unrepentent about his weekend flash.
Jonathan said: "It was just a bit of fun. I showed my backside to the crowd and the stewards told me not to do it again.
"Then I ran past the fans after they scored and I got manhandled off the field."
He added: " I can't understand it. I've been told off for entertaining the crowd and making them shout too loud."
A spokesman for Bury FC today: "We have decided not to dismiss Jonathan but he must not upset rival fans." Robbie's antics hit rock bottom with stewards.
