TWO goals against the run of play sank Bacup against Blackpool Mechanics in NWCL Division Two.
Manager Brent Peters had to make three changes from the side that beat Darwen 5-1 at the Anchor Ground on Saturday.
Keeper Adam Potts (broken finger and back injury) was replaced by Burnley United keeper Tony Gaijen and Jamie Wright made his first start of the season.
Stuart Farnell (ankle) and Mark Hall (work commitments) both missed the game.
Bacup played some good passing football but Blackpool went ahead when keeper Gaijen came out for a long ball, didn't connect properly with it and the Blackpool striker nipped in the send it trickling goalwards.
Bacup kept going forward and played some neat football but in the second half Blackpool went further ahead when Damian Moran and Paul Waine allowed a cross to come in and the defenders appeared to hear a shout from the keeper which gave the Mechanics forward a free header.
Peters said: "That knocked the stuffing out of us because they just closed the game off after that, and put eight men behind the ball.
"We found it difficult to get behind the lines and when we did the final ball was often lacking.
"We need to start capitalising on our chances because when we concede we don't look like we are going to get back into the game."
RESULT: BACUP...0 BLACKPOOL MECH...2
