POLLUTION control officers carried out tests on water in the Blackburn stretch of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal after it was discovered that a large number of fish had died because of low oxygen levels.
The oxygen-starved fish were found an Eanam Wharf and Whitebirk so National Rivers Authority staff also installed equipment to pump oxygen back.
