A FIRE crew were called to a burning car in Leigh on Monday afternoon.
The H-reg Vauxhall Cavalier was being driven along Spinning Jenny Way at 2pm when smoke started to pour from the engine.
The owner of the car, Marie Marsden, stopped the vehicle and helped the other two adults and a baby out, then called the fire brigade.
A spokesman for Leigh Fire Station said: "Police directed traffic while we dealt with the fire, it took about half an hour. Mrs Marsden reacted very well, she did exactly the right thing."
The engine of the vehicle was completely burnt out, but the rest of the car was saved. The passengers were shaken, but unharmed.
