RFU National League Two
Nottingham...8
Sedgley Park...48
DESPITE a delayed start due to heavy motorway traffic, Sedgley remained totally focused and produced a fine performance in dismantling Nottingham.
Sedgley took the lead through a Rob Moon penalty goal, only for Nottingham to score a try following a line-out.
Even when they took the lead, Nottingham showed no signs of getting in behind the Park defence and three more penalties put Sedgley 12-5 ahead, but Sedgley themselves hadn't shown any indication of scoring many tries.
That was until Paul Arnold charged through and released Moon to score near the left corner-post.
The lead was extended to 20-5 two minutes into the second period with another penalty.
As Nottingham came under increasing pressure, they were reduced to 14 men after the sin-binning of a player who had killed the ball.
A try from Jon Scales, converted by Moon , gave the score an even more one-sided look, and Nottingham completed their contribution to the scoring with a penalty.
Another try, this time from Carlos Hassan, was converted by Moon to give the Park a seemingly unassailable lead of 34-8.
The next try followed from a Nottingham attack that was broken up, and and a wonderful kick through from McCormack left Ross Bullough with the simple task of dotting the ball down over the line, and Moon converted yet again.
The overall scoring was completed by Moon, who took his personal tally to 28 with the conversion of a Tim Fourie try.
A highly satisfactory day for Park sees this victory catapult them into third, whilst Nottingham still prop up the table.
SEDGLEY PARK: Peacock, Wilcock, Scales, Hassan, Morris (Bullough), Moon, McCormack, Alcock (Latham), Keyes (Treco), Johnson, Arnold, Rees, Senior, Yates (Grainey), Fourie.
Sedgley turn their attentions to the Senior Cup tie against Stourbridge at Park Lane tomorrow. Whoever comes through victorious will host Coventry in the next round.
