READING (LET, September 20) that one of the Pavilions in Church Street, Blackburn, was likely to collapse if alterations are done to it caused the unkind thought that it is a pity that the other two were not likely to do the same.

I cannot think of one reason for wanting to preserve these monstrosities. They have neither historical value nor aesthetic appeal of any kind. They are simply square boxes cheaply built in pre-Victorian times.

What is surprising is that no objections were raised when the magnificent buildings on Preston New Road were commended to the demolition squad's hands.
