A JET-SKI which was used to save lives in a sea rescue off the Lytham coast was stolen from its owner's home this week.
Peter Reid, of East Beach, Lytham, woke on Wednesday morning, September 26 to find that his two-seater Kawasaki TS jet-ski had vanished from outside his house.
He had used the jet-ski to save the lives of five people after their speedboat capsized off the Lytham coast in the early 1990s.
"I saw them all bobbing around off the shore so I took the jet-ski out and brought them back in," he said.
"Because I saved those people from drowning on it I'm a bit sentimental about it, as you can imagine. And my children are growing up now and I thought it would be nice to start taking them out on it.
"It's quite a daring theft because it's a big machine. How they've got it out astounds us because the cars were parked in front of it. I'm just amazed that something that heavy and that big has gone," he said.
Mr Reid believed that the thieves had been watching the house for some time to plan the robbery. But Mr Reid plans to keep an eye out for people trying to sell the blue and white jet-ski -- he works for an auto trading magazine.
"I think if the thieves try to sell it in this area they would be very foolish," he said.
