THEIR rise to fame was phenomenal. Millions of people watched them form on television, as they were out through their paces and shown the highs and heatbreaks of the music industry.

And in a few short weeks they were turned into bona fide pop stars before our very eyes.

Their first single Pure and Simple was the fastest selling debut single ever and when their album was released soon after they became the first band to top both the album charts and the single charts at the same time with their debut releases. The follow-up Show Me The Way to Your Love, also topped the charts but, with a lot fewer sales.

That didn't stop their national arena tour selling out.

And they also got into the Guinness Book of Records with having the loudest fans when they screamed the place down at a recent gig.

A Saturday prime-time show where they sing with their contemporaries has kept them in the public eye, while Danny, Noel, Kym, Myleene and former Bacup choir girl Suzanne, are rarely out of the tabloid gossip columns.

Their music may be slammed by the "serious" critics but the kids obviously love them and their fame is assured.

But pop music is notoriously fickle and this week's Hear'Say could soon become last week's Take That.

A recent slanging match with Liberty stirred up talk of rivalry, although was just as quickly played down.

However Hear'Say apparently refused to let Liberty on their TV show for fears of being upstaged.

On Sunday we will find out if Liberty are any real threat to the pop stars' crown.
