A LOOK at the junior rugby scene.

Leyland Warriors U12's 10 Culceth 36

Weak defence by Leyland allowed Culcheth to a four try lead before Leyland Man of the Match Ryan Jackson managed to break into the visitors half resulting in Jamie Baxter scoring under the posts.

Glen Baron displayed good tackling skills whilst Ryan Johnstone's forward efforts were rewarded in the dying minutes with a strong try in the corner by Paul Broadman.

Moss Bank Bulldogs 38 Leyland Warriors U15's 14

The ten man team of Warriors produced a tremendous performance against a strong Bulldogs team.

Early in the first half some excellent defensive work resulted in the Warriors pushing the home team deep into their own half. After some sustained pressure Neill Byrom went over for a well worked try which he subsequently converted. As the half went on the Warriors defence was stretched and the home team ran in three quick tries.

For most of the second half Warriors were camped in the home side's half but were punished twice when interceptions were made by the home backs to score under the posts.

Warriors responded well with a bulldozing try by Ben Whewell. However, the numerical supermacy began to tell and they scored twice more late in the game. The team's performance was extremely encouraging with Neill Byrom as Man of the Match with James Crowther and Andy Watson playing with distinction. Peter Clark was top tackler.

Leyland Warriors U16's 8 Runcorn Rhinos 0

A well deserved win for the Warriors first match of the season. Great teamwork finally paid off with their first try coming from captain Tom Farrimond. The Leyland side worked hard throughout the match and some excellent defensive play under the posts kept the determined Rhinos at bay. Man of the Match was awarded to Jamie Jackson with Stuart Brown as runner up.
