AS part of Stroke Awareness Week, Lloyds Pharmacy inRed Lion Street, Burnley will offer customers advice on understanding the causes of the condition.
Strokes are the United Kingdom's third biggest cause of death and every year more than 10,000 people in England and Wales suffer their first one.
They are caused by an interruption in blood supply to the brain caused by a clot or ruptured vessel.
Approximately a third of all sufferers will fall victim to an additional stroke.
The risk of stroke can be increased by permanently high blood pressure, which affects 25 percent of the population over the age of 50.
During the week, staff at the pharmacy will be highlighting the dangers relating to high blood pressure, making people more aware of the risks and encouraging them to take on more exercise to keep blood pressure under control.
