PRETTY Janine Clegg was so overcome with joy when the nine judges chose her as Lancashire Evening Telegraph Bride of the Year she burst into tears.
Being voted the county's best bride could have easily been the best day of her life, but that honour will be saved for next summer when the 23-year-old from Masefield Avenue, Padiham, marries her beloved Andrew Philp, 26, also of Padiham.
The 30 brides-to-be who entered the competition were whittled down to 10 after hundreds of Lancashire Evening Telegraph readers voted for their favourites.
And at the plush Premier Suite at Blackburn Rovers' Ewood Park ground this weekend, Janine was delighted when toastmaster Peter Gill read out her name as overall winner.
Her prizes include a wedding dress, engagement photographs, bridal shoes, travel vouchers and a bride's bouquet.
She said: "Because I was so nervous, I didn't expect to win so I was overcome with emotion when he read out my name.
"Marriage is such a serious commitment for us and it's for the rest of our lives.
"And we won't live together until we are married because that is the right thing to do. But when we are together I definitely want children -- at least four."
And logistics co-ordinator Andrew agreed: "It is a really serious commitment for us both and we shall be very happy. But I'm not so sure about four children! "
Toastmaster Peter Gill said: "I quizzed the 10 brides to be with questions such as 'is your fiancee domesticated?' and 'is he a good cook?'
"But they were all excellent and it was unfortunate only one had to be picked. It must have been so nerve-wracking for the girls but I had great time chatting to so many pretty ladies."
