EWOOD chief executive John Williams today played down talk of a move for Turkish striker Hakan Suker.
A story on the internet claims Rovers are ready to enter the race for the Inter Milan star, who has recently attracted interest from Liverpool, Bolton and West Ham.
But, though the report quotes manager Graeme Souness as saying he is a fan of the former Galatasaray hit-man, Williams has quashed suggestions that a move is imminent.
"I think an agent approached Graeme to see if he'd be interested in Hakan but he's not a player we are currently pursuing."
Sukur, who has been frozen out at the San Siro, admitted last week he is keen on a move to England, with Liverpool thought to be his favoured destination.
Meanwhile, Williams has revealed Rovers moved a step closer to bolstering their defensive resources yesterday.
"We are still making progress in regard to a foreign target," said the Ewood chief.
"It's extremely complicated but I would hope that something might be sorted out in the next couple of days."
Two names thought to be in the frame are Nuremberg duo Nils-Eric Johnansson and Marek Nikl.
