DAVID Platt's England Under-21s tuned-up for Friday night's crunch clash against Greece with a warm-up game against Rovers Academy starlets at Brockhall today.

Ian Miller's Under-19s were due to provide the opposition for Platt's youngsters in a specially arranged practice session this afternoon.

And Brockhall chief Bobby Downes believes the whole experience is sure to be of great benefit to all his young charges after being given a rare chance to test themselves against England's stars of the future.

"David Platt requested a training game against us and I imagine he'll want us to play like the Greeks so it should be a great experience," said Downes.

"Our team will mainly be made up of the Under 19s but we might bring one or two up from the senior squad, like Gordon Greer and Darren Dunning.

"But simply to have them training here is great for our lads and I might get some of them to see their sessions because it's good for the kids to watch sometimes."

Platt's squad are using Rovers' Academy facilities as their training base ahead of Friday's game at Ewood.

Meanwhile, Rovers' two Academy sides had to settle for a point apiece from their games against Middlesbrough at the weekend.

Goals from Neil Danns and prolific marksman Jon Walters put the Under-19s into a commanding first half lead.

But they then shipped two carbon-copy efforts from corners during a kamikaze spell before the break, as they eventually settled for a 2-2 draw.

The Under-17s was a scrappier affair and both sides ended up sharing the spoils at the end of a dour nil-niler.

ROVERS Academy starlet Alan Morgan faces a busy couple of days on international duty with Scotland's Under 18s.

Morgan was in the squad for today's game against Denmark and tomorrow's clash with Northern Ireland.
