A NEW state-of-the art library is to be officially opened in Great Harwood tonight.
Hyndburn MP Greg Pope and chairman of Lancashire County Council, County Councillor Dorothy Westell, are to open the purpose built library in Queen Street, which was completed three months ago.
Councillor Westell is to unveil a plaque in the presence of the cabinet member for libraries, County Coun Niki Penney and Lancashire's acting director of education, Jack Bennett.
The library has a computerised issue system, which also allows borrowers to use computerised cards to obtain books in neighbouring libraries such as Clayton-le-Moors, Church, Oswaldtwistle and Accrington.
County Coun Westell said: "This is a new beginning for the library service in Great Harwood.
"I am certain that the new library will continue to prove very popular and I would like to encourage everyone in the area to take a look around the new facilities."
