West Bromwich Albion Reserves 1 Burnley Reserves 2

A SUPERB second half performance from the Clarets reserves served up a victory over West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns.

It inflicted a first defeat in the Avon Insurance League's top flight for the Baggies this season with goals from Anthony Shandran and Lennie Johnrose settling the issue.

An even bigger boost for Burnley was that defender Ian Cox came through 90 minutes and looked back to full fitness.

The second half brought the goals with Shandran putting the Clarets in front after 54 minutes heading in from a Mark Rasmussen corner.

The dangerous Jamaican trialist Ricardo Fuller put Albion back on terms after 70 minutes when he clipped a shot beyond Cennamo.

However, Burnley wrapped up their victory four minutes later when John Mullin was brought down by Igor Balis and Johnrose duly converted the penalty.

Burnley: Cennamo, McGregor, Pilkington, Davis, Cox, Mullin, Maylett, Johnrose, Shandran, Ellis, Rasmussen (Waine, 88). Subs: Leeson, Salisbury, O'Neil, Williamson.
