BACUP Borough boss Brent Peters is looking for his men to be on their mettle against Colne tonight.

Goals from Damon Gledhill and Jason Lanns handed them a superb 2-0 away win at league newcomers Norton United on Saturday, but Peters reckons that will count for nothing if they fail to take anything from the derby.

Colne were beaten 2-0 at Stone and will be eager to get back to winning ways -- as well Peters knows.

"The three points we got on Saturday will mean nothing if we don't take something tonight," said Peters.

"It was a good win, but it will only remain a good win if we can do well on our home ground.

"We have got to make sure that home advantage tells."

Peters waits on Stuart Farnell and Alex Binney who missed Saturday's outing through injury.

Steve Wilkes and opposite number John Bailey go into tonight's derby clash in the NWCL Division Two derby at the Anchor Ground both looking for their sides to improve.

Darwen, who notched a 2-0 success against Bootle on Saturday, look to kick on from success while Nelson go into the game on the back of two draws, the latest against local rivals Padiham 1-1 at the weekend.

Paul Baker bagged both goals in Darwen's success and Wilkes said: "Hopefully the weekend win was not just a one-off and we can build on what we did and get a good result against Nelson at home."

In turn Bailey is looking for his side to make a better start after taking their time to settle against Padiham.

"I thought Saturday was a fair result but we didn't actually give them a game until we got back in touch in the second half, but we could have gone on and won it," said Bailey.

"We have now drawn our last two games and we would like to get back to winning ways, but derbies like this are usually tight affairs.

"Obviously they have got a good result against Bootle and we have got to ensure that we start more quickly or otherwise we will pay for it."

Nelson will be without injured pair Kiko Rodriguez and Jonathan Irvine for the clash.

Ramsbottom travel to Curzon Ashton in NWCL Division One hoping to bounce back from their 5-2 defeat in the FA Cup at Whitby on Saturday.

Manager Mike Kelly said: "We matched Whitby for the vast majority of the first half but we let ourselves down defensively - as a team not just the defence - by giving the ball away.

"Four of their goals came from us giving them the ball."

Curzon are eighth in the league with 17 points from 10 games. Ramsbottom are 13th with 11 points from eight games.

First meet second in the Second Division when entertainers Stand play Formby at Haslingden's former ground Ewood Bridge.

Stand have scored 33 goals in 12 games and top the league on goal difference.

Padiham travel to Blackpool Mechanics in NWCL Division Two hoping to build on a good draw away at Nelson on Saturday.

Manager Graham Howarth bemoaned his side's lack of confidence before Saturday's game and hopes the point at Nelson, against one of the sides tipped to be challenging this season, has gone some way toward curing it.

"We have been playing without much confidence and we haven't been putting the ball in the back of the net.

"We should have beaten Nelson really with the chances we had.

"I never thought a goal would be enough and in the end it wasn't although it was a wonder goal from 30 yards that equalised."

Padiham are mid-table with 12 points from 11 games this season.
