A PUB in Shuttleworth has been purchased by Thwaites brewery from a family who ran it for four years.
Pat and Keith Edwards bought the Eagle and Child in Whalley Road after ten years as tenants of Thwaites' Crown and Thistle on the road between Edgworth and Darwen.
Mr Edwards died two years ago, aged 57. The family rallied round to help his wife continue but she eventually decided to sell the business and Thwaites stepped in.
Mrs Edwards said: "This was the first time pub we had owned and we had big plans for it. We were going to do so much but it was not to be."
"I am moving back to Eccles. My son Paul has a house in Worsley and my daughter Elizabeth works in the marketing section at the Bolton Evening News."
She added that the family would leave the pub on Monday and the new tenants would be installed by Thwaites on October 29.
