A well-respected member of the St Helens restaurant trade has died peacefully at his home.
Chaudry Nabi of Nabis Restaurant on Cotham Street, leaves six children including five sons and one daughter plus several grandchildren.
The 69 year-old was a highly respected member of the St Helens community and will be missed dearly by all his family and friends, with many holding fond memories of his welcoming spirit at his popular restaurant.
Mr Nabi who spent 30 years in the restaurant business, died on Monday, September 24, following a brave fight against illness.
He was buried the following day at Central Cemetery in Manchester and this was attended not only by his family but also close friends from the Pakistan community who loved his enthusiasm for life so much.
One of his sons Teto, told the Star: "It is a very difficult time because everybody looked up to him as a father figure. At the moment we are still mourning his death but Chaudry was very brave and he never liked hospitals simply because he didn't want anybody making a fuss."
There will be a formal gathering on Sunday, October 7, 2001 between 10 and midday for friends who wish to pay their last respects.
