SCHOOLS throughout St Helens and Knowsley with youngsters aged between 14 and 18 have been invited to bring them along to a special one-day event to highlight and promote the wide range of career opportunities available in the NHS.
The 'Career Choices' event is to be held at the Hilton Hotel in Chalon Way, St Helens today, Thursday October 4, from 9.30am to 4pm and is organised by St Helens and Knowsley Health Authority, St Helens Community Health Trust and St Helens Hospitals Trust as part of a national NHS employment campaign. Apart from schools the day is for anyone else looking for career opportunities and there will be dozens of experts on hand to answer questions about a wide range of jobs.
These will include speech and language therapists, IT and administration, pharmacists, physiotherapists, health Visitors and District Nurses, dentistry, finance and many more.
In addition to the wide variety of information available there will be complimentary gifts for those who attend. To create more interest in schools a drawing cometition has been organised, aimed at ages 13 and under, and a caption competition for those up to 18.
16-year-old Rachel Forshaw a student at Rainhill High, whose mother Pat is a human resource assistant with the Community Health Trust and is involved in the organisation of the days activities, drew up the artwork for the competition.
