Haydock 14 Farnworth 24 ONE undefeated record had to go and it was Haydock who suffered against a good Farnworth side. Haydock never reached their playing abilities and let themselves down with a lot of dropped possession and stray passes.
A wayward pass led to the first try by Farnworth when ex-Saints winger Mike Riley picked up the loose pass and went on to score a converted try to lead 6-0 to Farnworth. And after 25 minutes they doubled their lead to 12-0 with another converted try. Carroll, Bloor, Cahalin were working hard and they got some reward when Bloor made a good run to create an opening for Connaire who went in for a try.
Ireland P converted to make it 12-6 to Farnworth. But Haydock's defence was caught napping again when the Farnworth's big winger went in for his second try which was unconverted to make the half time score 16-6 to Farnworth.
Haydock started brightly with some good runs by Speed and Appleton and closed the gap when centre Speed scored a good try converted by P Ireland to make it 16-12 to Farnworth. Haydock tried hard to get another score but the referee restricted them with some bad decisions.
Farnworth increased their lead with a penalty goal to make it 18-12. Haydock replied with a penalty goal from Ireland P to make it 18-14 to Farnworth. With 10 minutes to go Haydock were putting on the pressure and Speed got over for a try, which the referee disallowed to the players disbelief.
On full time an interception try by Riley sealed the game for Farnworth by 24-14. Outstanding for Haydock were Carroll, Speed and Appleton.
Leigh Miners 28 Haydock A 18 An inept tackling display and an inability to carry out a set of six plays saw Haydock seconds crash to a well organised Leigh outfit. Tries for Haydock came from Tony Grimes, Joe Mellors John Bradbury, and Mark Davies, who also kicked one conversion. The Frodsham Partners Man of the match was Alan Clarke. Haydock W U/16s 18 Salford Juniors 14 A brace of tries from hooker Daniel Rimmer and a Craig Tipene touchdown all goaled by Stephen Arrowsmith, put Haydock in a commanding position. The man of the match accolade was awarded to top tackler Chris Lloyd. Haydock U/12s 26 Leigh MR 16 Try scorers for Haydock were the ever present Dean Dollin with another hat-trick of tries, with Charlie Storey and Martyn Pedley also crossing. Coach's awards went to Ian Bond and Stephen Burrows, the wing and centre partnership both having a strong game in defence and attack . A high workrate won Ryan Ford a top tackler award with Xenon man of the match award going to Stephen Welding.
Haydock U/11s 24 Latchford Albion 42 THIS week's Diskhouse Man of the match was Thomas Colborn, who also added a try and conversion, with the www.ringos.co.uk Top Tackler being Ryan Whitley. The coach's ward went to Ben Gonzalez, with Mike Guy gaining the unsung hero award. Liam Pilling was voted most improved newcomer. Haydock's other points coming form Joshua Jackson try and conversion, Ryan Livesley a try, Dean Dale a try, Thomas Taylor and Scott Davies a conversion each.
Leigh Miners U/10s 12 Haydock 34 Tries came from Jordan Gibson and Nathan Halliwell (two each) and a try each coming from Scott Hale and Daniel Jones. The Late Shop man of the match went to Mike Tress, top tackler was Mike Sexton, coaches award went to Daniel Jones and most improved was Matty Herd.
Haydock U/10s 24 Pilks 0 Tries came from Aaron Lloyd (2) and a try each for Jordan Gibson and Luke Edwards. No individual merits went out because they all played well.
Haydock U/8s 8 Orrell St James 48 Scorers for Haydock were man of the match Scott Lucas and coach's award Connor Hardman. Top tackler was Alison Burrows with Jack Shukie most improved.
