DARWEN twice came from behind to grab a point at home to one of the NWCL Division Two title favourites.
But boss Steve Wilkes felt they could have had more out of the game.
"I think (Nelson manager) John Bailey will be happier than me," he said.
"We always seem to play well against Nelson but never seem to be able to carve out a result."
Nelson hit the crossbar 30 seconds into the game through a Scott Gizon header and went ahead on 21 through Mick Molyneux.
Gizon headed goalwards from a free kick and Darwen keeper Lee Purvis came for it but dropped it.
Darwen defender Lee Webb cleared the lines only to blast the ball straight into the back of Molyneux and into the net.
Darwen equalised two minutes before the break after a piece of individual skill from Dennis Hill, who went past Micky Charlton on the right and slotted the ball under Nelson keeper Mark Canning.
But just a minute later Nelson were back in front through Gizon who blasted home unmarked at the back post after an Andy Bannister header.
Darwen's equaliser came with 11 minutes to go through Hill again, who picked the ball up 35 yards out and blasted it from 30 straight into the top corner.
RESULT: DARWEN...2 NELSON...2
