I EXTEND my deepest sympathy to the family of Michelle Hilton who lost her fight against breast cancer (LET, October 2).
I admired her spirit in successfully campaigning for Herceptin, a drug which could have extended her life, but which was denied to her.
It is important that every breast cancer patient has the right to the best treatment possible, wherever they live, and thanks to Michelle and the Lancashire Evening Telegraph this drug will now be available to others in East Lancashire.
I am sure Michelle's family will be very proud of her, as I am proud of my colleagues at the Lancashire Evening Telegraph who helped in the fight for fairness, gave Michelle hope in her distress and also hope to other breast cancer victims, like me.
RUTH LOFT (Mrs), (Editorial assistant, Lancashire Evening Telegraph and volunteer for Breakthrough Breast Cancer), Ryburn Avenue, Blackburn.)
