CONEY Green High School pupils got behind the steering wheel and experienced the feel of driving without actually going anywhere.
Youngsters were given the chance to sample life in the driving seat when the British School of Motoring's roadshow called into the Spring Lane school last Thursday and Friday (Sept 27-28).
The BSM's unique driving simulator, developed at a cost of more than half a million pounds, is based on the design of a Vauxhall Corsa.
It enabled the young "drivers" to familiarise themselves with a car's controls and develop basic skills in steering, clutch control, gears, moving off and stopping before they venture out on the road.
Roadshow spokesman Mr Andy Brown said: "Learning to drive is a number one priority for most young people and the roadshow gives students the chance to drive a car in a safe and controlled environment and have some fun at the same time."
