VISITORS to Blackpool will soon be able to hear the sound of Blackpool Illuminations as well as see them when a new radio station takes to the air.
A new radio station, 106.3 Illuminations FM, has been granted a special 28-day licence by the Radio Authority to provide a music, information and entertainment service aimed at holidaymakers during the Illumintions.
It will broadcast from the Show Shop at the base of Blackpool Tower.
The station was the idea of Jane Seddon, Blackpool's head of tourism, and Esther Morton, regional managing director of The Wireless Group (TWG), parent company of The Wave and will be broadcast every evening from 7pm-11pm.
Feature project manager Neil Sexton will present a live show with celebrity guests and outside broadcasts from around the town.106.3FM will go on air this Saturday (October 6) until Friday, November 2.
