LIGHT up a Life, the campaign by which Bury Hospice helps you to remember loved ones and support the Dumers Lane hospice at the same time, is once again being staged.
Hospice staff have invited all the people in the borough to join with them in remembering those who have been a big part of their lives and are no longer with them. These may be parents, children, relations or best friends and need not be in memory of someone who was a patient at the hospice.
Now an annual event, Light up a Life is an opportunity to celebrate the memory of loved ones by sponsoring a candle in their name. In return for a donation the names of loved ones will also be entered into the specially designed Book of Memories and the person making the donation will receive a copy of the relevant page of that book to keep.
Two special services of remembrance have been organised when symbolic candles will be lit. A multi-denominational service will be held in a marquee in the grounds of the hospice at 6.30pm on December 2. And a service will be held in Bury Parish Church at 7.30pm on December 3.
Hospice chief executive Elizabeth Houghton said: "By donating to this appeal local people will be directly helping other local people who have a life-threatening or terminal illness and supporting our specialist nursing team as we extend our care to many more people in need."
Donation forms are available from libraries, information desks and from the hospice shop at 89 The Rock.
