A LEGENDARY saxophonist, who has performed with some of the world's biggest music stars, is set to appear in concert in Leyland.
Snake Davis, or Chris to his friends, is widely recognised as one of the country's leading saxophone and flute players, and he is getting ready to entertain you with a lethal bite of fabulous music and raw talent as part of a North West tour.
During his long career, 45-year-old Snake has played with stars such as Paul McCartney, Take That and the Spice Girls and he is now part of the re-formed Eurythmics line-up.
The father-of-two, who lives in Buckinghamshire, was bitten by the music bug as a child, never looking back since.
He said: "I studied at Liverpool University and kicked off my career through playing in the bars and clubs around the city. But I have been interested in music back to when I was very small, singing in church choirs and things like that, at around six or seven years old. That love and feel for music has stayed with me ever since.
"Then I picked up wind instruments in my teens and the saxophone caught my heart. It became what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. It has been a long, slow climb to get to where I am now, but very exciting."
Sax star Snake, whose unique playing style gave him his nickname, is eager to perform to a live audience.
He said: "Performing live is what make most sense to me. Playing with other groups and artists is fine, but live music is the thing in my career that makes most sense."
Sizzling Snake Davis will appear with eight-piece Northern soul band The Suspicions at Worden Arts Centre in Leyland on Friday, November 2. All tickets are £9 from Dominic Finley Entertainments on 01772 603030. bhewes@lancashire.newsquest.co.uk
