A PRESTON rock band are set to hit the big time after finishing recording their debut album.
MellowDrive have spent the last year and a half putting the finishing touches to '...and everything after', and have been snapped up by a Lancaster-based promotion company, Pro-Sound, who are set to spread the word of the band's talent.
MellowDrive are local lads Ian Bailey on vocals, Lee Fury on guitar, Phil Bailey on drums, Jim Mumford on bass and Andy Bagwell.
They met when singer Ian was looking for a band to join.
Ian, from Brandiforth Street, Bamber Bridge, said: "The other members of the band were actually in a thrash band, playing punk and rock music.
"My brother Phil, the drummer, mentioned I wasn't in a band, and we started playing together."
Soon the band had enough songs to make an album, and despite being recorded in a garage on low-tech equipment, their music has impressed everyone who has heard it.
Ian said: "We did an interview on Bay Radio, for about an hour. They played some of our songs, and the station got a load of calls in. One of the callers was from Pro-Sound.
"The whole thing was bizarre, as it was just a tiny station, with nothing to it really. But they put a track on and the next minute calls are coming through.
"We have got a few things in the pipeline with independent record labels.
"There is less money involved, but we are willing to take a chance. There is a label in Bristol called Pink Hedgehog who want to help us release a couple of singles. We all feel that little things can lead on to better things.
"We are going back into the studio shortly, and local gigs help recording costs. If you ask each member of the band whether they believe in what they are doing, they will say yes."
MellowDrive will be appearing at the Corner Club, Corporation Street, Preston, on Sunday, October 7. Doors open at 9pm, and entry is £1.
