RAMSBOTTOM's mickey-taking REAL Rascals have angered the club's head coach, Rick Wesolowski.
Towards the end of the comprehensive 71-36 victory over Ashton-under-Lyne, the Rascals teased their opponents and the visiting fans by slowing down.
That made Ashton think they were in with a chance of winning the odd relay event in the junior league fixture...until the Rascals speeded up to overtake!
Wesolowski said he plans talks with the elite swimmers responsible for the tomfoolery.
He said: "Opponents should never be underestimated, but they should always be treated with respect. These swimmers know better. They know they should remain focused."
Wesolowski did however praise the performances on the night of Olivia Sloss, Victoria Donohoe and Kodie Taylor.
He added: "We did outclass Ashton, but have Tyldesley to come in this competition which will be something of a decider."
Meanwhile, in the Intermediate League on Sunday, the Rascals beat Howe Bridge Aces 176-135. Wesolowski praised the majority of the squad, particularly Richard Panter, who was making his debut as skipper in the competition.
The head coach vowed extra work will have to be doneafter two swimmers, Rebecca Pressler and Victoria Bradshaw were disqualified for not following the strict ASA rules.
