IT was a case of third time lucky for Colne as they finally made amends for two defeats at the hands of Leek already this term.
Victory in this Worthington Challenge Trophy was a fair reward for a Colne side who dominated throughout.
John Lister's young side have enjoyed some encouraging results this season and although this victory doesn't earn them three points it should act as a real shot in the arm.
"It was a good performance and we are very pleased with the way things are going this season," said Colne chairman Dave Blacklock.
"Because of the strong winds it was a scrappy game at times but the lads always looked to have the edge."
Colne took the lead on 65 minutes when George Craddock scored his first goal since his move from Charnock Richard last month.
Craddock latched on to a through ball and finished well.
Colne increased their lead after Chris Ingham headed home at the near post from a Ben Callon cross.
Callon, who had an excellent game, came very close to making it 3-0 after bursting through, only to shoot narrowly wide.
Colne face a stern test at table topping Stand on Tuesday but will go to Ewood Bridge boosted by a well-deserved cup victory.
Lister said: "I said to the lads at half-time that if we just stepped up another gear it would be enough to win the game because Leek didn't have enough to offer.
"It's pleasing to get through to the next round, but I would swap three points for the win as Leek have taken maximum points from us this season when really they haven't deserved any!"
RESULT: COLNE...2 LEEK CSOB...0
