A MAN was stabbed at Blackpool Pleasure Beach on Friday evening as violence flared between two gangs of tourists.
The two groups, one from Leicester and the other from Watford, are understood to have begun brawling at around 5pm, after a ride on The Big One rollercoaster.
A member of one group is thought to have insulted a 16-year-old girl in the other, which led to the fight and the stabbing of a man with the Leicester group. He was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
Detective Sergeant Keith Lee of Blackpool CID, which has been investigating the incident, said: "The man has discharged himself from hospital and he didn't want to make a complaint." But verbal allegations had been made against the stabbed man by others, he added.
Despite previous reports that the gangs had been drinking, Det Sgt Lee said he could not confirm if they were drunk, but he commented: "I think they had been to Blackpool for a day out."
