ITHINK Hyndburn Council are killjoys and spoilsports because they would rather everyone went to council-run events in parks and recreation grounds than hold street parties to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee -- What a shame.
I remember going to a street party on Tintern Crescent in Blackburn, in 1977, the year of the Queen's Silver Jubilee, and it was such a great time and great fun.
Street paries are an ideal way for everyone to get together, have great times and get to know one another, even if they are strangers.
The council don't know the spirit of community and seem to have lost it completely.
