RAILWAY enthusiasts had plenty to choo-choose from over the weekend at a special display.
The eighth Model Railway Exhibition, at the New Longton CofE School, Hugh Barn Lane, New Longton, took place on Saturday, October 6.
Dozens of train enthusiasts, from hardened train-spotters to Thomas the Tank Engine fans, went along to see stands from 22 different model railway. There were historic and fictional models of railway lines, and modelling clinics to help beginners.
Leyland and District Model Railway Club took part and gave a modelling demonstration of the layout of the Newtown Junction, on the Welsh border, which portrays operations between 1945 and 1965.
Another trade stand was from Ribble Steam Railway which is being set up as a working museum on Preston Dock, having transfered from Southport.
Around £400 was raised on the day for the All Saint's Church, Station Road, New Longton.
Organiser Margaret Balaam said: "It was a very successful event, and there was an increase on the number of visitors from previous years.
"Both the exhibitors and the visitors thoroughly enjoyed it. There were plenty of stands and displays, and even Railtrack had a stand there!"
