I'M DELIGHTED to hear that it is planned to have street wardens walking the streets of Lancaster, though of course it won't do much good if they are as afraid as the police seem to be of cracking down on anti-social behaviour.
I am tired of living in a city where the streets are filled with litter and damage, where people deliberately drop rubbish within feet of a litter bin, of seeing street signs and public monuments deliberately vandalised and broken, of seeing children playing in recycling areas with the sole purpose of making as much mess as they can (the little darlings are bored! I hear the cry! we must indulge them!)
A society that allows its young people to behave in such anti-social ways and in which most authority figures are too scared or too 'politically correct' to take action against them is not a successful society. It is a sad, sick one.
For obvious reasons I do not want my name and address publishing.
