TONY Grant trained with his new Burnley team-mates this morning and is now in line for a place in the side to face Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
The former Everton and Manchester City midfielder completed his move from Maine Road today and will go straight into Stan Ternent's first team squad.
The fee for the 26-year-old is thought to be in the region of £250,000, £200,000 less than Joe Royle paid Everton for Grant two seasons ago.
The former Everton trainee was in the City side which beat Burnley 4-2 at Turf Moor at the end of August but that was one of only three appearances under Kevin Keegan this season.
The arrival of Ali Benarbia and the return to fitness of Eyal Berkovic has limited the Liverpool born player's opportunities and he has made the move in search of regular first team football.
Grant had been included in the squad for the Worthington Cup tie with Birmingham City last night but pulled out in order to discuss the move.
It was Joe Royle who bought the midfield playmaker having worked with him when he was the manager at Goodison Park.
But as City struggled in the top flight last season he made only ten appearances and was shipped out on loan to West Bromwich Albion. Burnley looked at taking him on loan and he was linked with a £250,000 move to Barnsley but he remained a City player until today.
Grant is a former England Under-21 player, making one appearance in a friendly against Angola five years ago, but his debut for Burnley will be only his 100th league appearance.
He struggled to become a first team regular at Everton, never playing more than 18 league games in one season, but now has the chance to show what he can do as he attempts to help Burnley continue their fine start to the season.
Clarets chairman, Barry Kilby said: "We are delighted to have agreed everything with Tony. He is the standard of player that we want at the club and he will strengthen the team."
Ternent had stressed he hoped to use the two week international break to add to his squad and the arrival of Grant comes a week after John Mullin left for Rotherham.
