TALENTED musicians from Hodgson High School Technology College swept the board at Fleetwood Music and Arts Festival recently.
Around 60 pupils from the school took part in the event and scored a number of noteworthy successes. First and second places in the under-17 string solo class went to Thomas Foster and Stephanie Holland, with Fiona Walker-Buckton winning the under-19 woodwind solo class.
The under-17 brass solo class was won by Thomas Middleton, with Nicola Armistead taking second place.
Thomas went on to win the overall instrumental championship, while Thomas Foster and Andrew Oddy came third in the under-21 duet class, and Hodgson's string quartet came second in the under-21 instrumental ensemble class.
The school's string orchestra also won the youth band and orchestra class.
Steve Dawson, head of music, said: "Our musicians really gain from the experience of performing under pressure in a large venue.
"They have worked very hard in rehearsals and thoroughly deserve their success."
