A SECURITY guard struggled with two robbers when he was attacked on a Metrolink tram platform on Friday afternoon (Oct 5).
He was emptying a ticket machine at Radcliffe when a man tried to snatch the cashbox from his grasp.
A struggled ensued during which a second man joined the scuffle. The guard was forced to let go of the money and both robbers fled in a silver Toyota Land Cruiser which was later found burnt out.
Police said the guard was not injured.
The first offender was white, in his 30s, 5ft 9ins tall, balding, overweight and clean shaven. His accomplice was also white, aged approximately 25, 5ft 8 ins tall and thick set. He was wearing scruffy grey clothes and a hat.
CCTV footage is being viewed by police in a bid to identify the pair.
Anyone who witnessed the attack, at 2.55pm, or saw the men flee the Metrolink station should contact Whitefield CID on 856 8248.
